Sail Parry Sound is a volunteer-managed club, home of the *Big Sound
Challenge, winner of the CYA Recreational Event of the Year Award 2009,
and the *Sail Parry Sound Sailing School, 2003 winner of the William Abbott
Senior Award for Best Sailing School in Canada .
Parry Sound is the largest natural harbour on the Great
Lakes. Georgian Bay is on the East side of Lake Huron in Ontario, Canada.
The pristine, open water, known locally as the Big Sound, and renowned
worldwide, is more than
five by six nautical miles in area, and more than 300 feet deep with
dependable, brisk winds. Designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve,
this sailing paradise offers every possible
convenience for racers and cruisers without compromising the
spectacular beauty of Northern Ontario.
The Sound, in the heart of the 30,000 Islands, is accessible directly from the town of
Parry
Sound which is on Highway 400, only two hours from downtown
Toronto.
